Associates of the Washington Health Foundation are encouraged to display integrity, responsibility and honesty in all dealings with the public and each other.

Please read the definitions below for detailed information about violations of WHF's policies and principles. Employees and outside customers of WHF can report anonymously any wrongdoings within the organization.

Instances of Corporate Fraud

The unethical systematic recording and analysis of business and financial transactions associated with generally accepted accounting practices. Examples include:

Misstatement of revenues
Misstatement of expenses
Misstatement of assets
Misapplication of GAAP principles
Wrongful transactions
Misrepresentation of donor funds

Unethical Conduct of Business: Improper Lobbying or Political Activities

Involvement in a campaign for political office

Falsification of Contracts, Reports or Records

Altering, fabricating, falsifying or forging all or any part of a document, contract or record for the purpose of gaining an advantage
Misrepresenting the value of a document, contract or record

Conflict of Interest

WHF defines a conflict as a situation in which a person has a private or personal interest sufficient to appear to influence the objective exercise of his or her official duties. Examples include:

Inappropriate vendor relations
Misuse of confidential information
Bribery
Inappropriate customer relations

Discrimination or Harassment

WHF defines discrimination or harassment as uninvited and unwelcome verbal or physical conduct directed at an individual because of their sex, race, ethnicity, national origin, age, disability, religion citizenship, veteran's status, sexual orientation, marital status or any other legally protected characteristic. Examples include:

Bias in hiring
Wrongful termination
Unfair compensation
Bias in assignments
Inappropriate language
Retaliation

Substantial and specific danger to the employee or public health and safety
Unsafe working conditions
Intent to inflict evil, injury or damage to a person or their property
