The 2006 Governor's Community Health Bowl kicked off on Sept.
18, which Gov. Chris Gregoire proclaimed "Washington Health
Day."
The Health Bowl offers a fun opportunity for individuals, Participating
Organizations and Schools involved in the Healthiest State in
the Nation Campaign to build challenges around fitness and knowledge
about our state's health!
In 2006, Gov. Gregoire challenged Washingtonians to log 2.5 Million
Miles of health during the six week Health Bowl. Individuals,
businesses, organizations and schools logged their miles right
here, on the Washington Health Foundation's website. Washingtonians
not only met, but surpassed the Governor's Challenge—logging
more than 3.1 million miles! Click

During the 2006 Governor's Community Health Bowl, Q13 Fox partnered
with the Washington Health Foundation, Washington State Medical
Association and Washington State Nurses Association to air commercials
featuring practical health tips.

Individual Champion Contests
WHF had weekly contests during the Health Bowl and gave
away many prizes including: Washington hotel and resort packages,
Washington ski resort packages, health club memberships, grocery
store gift certificates, museum tickets, coffee shop gift certificates
and more!
Healthiest Business Challenge
In 2006, WHF hosted the first ever Healthiest
Business Challenge in conjunction with the Governor's Community
Health Bowl. This fun and friendly competition was sponsored by:

And a special mention to the organization with the most total
miles: Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce—Total Miles 26,593!

School Challenge
This year's Health Bowl once again included a School Challenge
for Washington's elementary, middle, junior high and high schools.
In 2005, 115 schools competed by logging miles during the Health
Bowl.
In 2006, nearly 200 schools participated. Each schools received
a FREE school package to help them get started, including this
map on which students could track their miles, going from Olympia,
Washington to Washington, D.C.

Highlights from the 2005 Health Bowl
In 2005, the Washington Health Foundation (WHF) worked
with Washington Governor Christine Gregoire to hold the first
ever Governor's Community Health Bowl. During the five-week event,
Washingtonians were challenged to log One Million Miles of health
on the WHF website.
When the Health Bowl ended, 1.5 Million Miles of physical activity
and correct health quiz questions had been accrued right here
at www.whf.org!
