The Healthiest State in the Nation Campaign originated in 2004
as a statewide effort in Washington state led by the Washington
Health Foundation.
Today, it is the largest civic engagement campaign for health
in the history of Washington state — so far involving 35,000
individuals, more than 950
organizations and businesses, and over 350
schools across the state — and more are joining every day.
In 2007, the Washington Health Foundation took this successful
program national. It is free to join the Campaign, and only takes
an email address, password and zip code (to affiliate with your
state). By joining the Campaign you can:
- Log miles of active living
- Track healthy eating
- Track water intake
- Track sleep
- Track dental health
- Track tobacco cessation
- Set and track progress towards your New Year’s
Resolution
|
- Form teams
- Track personal progress on your personal scoreboard
- Answer a customizable Health Q&A to test knowledge
of community health
|
Then, watch your
state's miles increase on the national scoreboard.
The Healthiest State Campaign promotes Healthy Living (healthy
eating and active living) and works with its many partners to
build Healthy Systems that make healthy choices easy choices for
individuals, families and communities.
Using national state rankings
as a benchmark, the Healthiest State Campaign can target improvement
areas, such as public health funding and childhood immunization
rates in Washington state, by engaging the public in education
campaigns and advising lawmakers on policies that will increase
the state's rankings.
By promoting Healthy Living and building Healthy Systems, we
can each help our states improve in national health rankings —
and, together, we can create a healthier America.
